Celebrating B Corp: Purposeful work drives our people

3 min read

Doe knows sustainability.

You don’t get to be a 109-year-old company without knowing how to take care of your clients, your employees and the communities in which you operate. That’s why Doe-Anderson is now a certified B Corporation.

Why did we pursue this?

It is more than just the “right thing to do.” I was inspired by the framework of B Corp and curious to see how we measured up. We went into the wilderness to examine the way we do business and how we impact people’s lives every day. Our tenured client, Maker’s Mark, provided encouragement and inspiration with its B Corp certification.

The comprehensive criteria B Lab uses for certification challenged our leadership team to be honest about where we are operating today and where we want to be in the future. I am happy to share that Doe-Anderson had to change very little to achieve our certification score, but we want to be better than that. Being measured against global best-in-class standards in areas like your governance, employees, community impact and environmental footprint is an opportunity to rise to the occasion, and we did just that.

B Corp certification is a recognition of the thoughtfulness and hard work the Doe-Anderson team is doing to create a culture that embraces the long view.

Doe-ing Good

We’ve made our name as an industry-leader in advertising and garnered a reputation for doing good along the way. Our agency continues to nurture multiple community partnerships with nonprofits and educational institutes like Junior Achievement, the University of Louisville, Western Kentucky University and Leadership Louisville. Our All Hands program, launched in 2023, is dedicated to helping grow Black-owned small businesses by providing pro-bono branding, marketing and public relations consultative services.

Many members of our team serve on boards and volunteer for nonprofits, supporting causes and organizations they are passionate about in Louisville, Columbus and across the United States. We are proud of the impact we are making both inside and outside working hours.

What's Next?

We are not going to be resting on our laurels since becoming a B Corp. This is an opportunity to learn, improve and elevate our operations moving forward. We are already executing plans to continue to get better. With the certification, Doe-Anderson is now officially registered with the Secretary of State as a Public Benefits Corporation (PBC) and joins a global network of businesses in 104 countries who have met high standards for social and environmental impact.

We are proud to be counted as a member of a community of businesses, leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. Join us!
